Removing ( Refitting )
Follow the safety instructions for the following operation meticulously
    Op. 5580C18 AIR BAG MODULE - R+R - Place the steering wheel in a central position with the wheels straight.- After having made sure that the steering wheel is in a central position and the wheels are stratight, remove the steering wheel.    Op. 4110A10 STEERING WHEEL - R+R FOR REPLACEMENT OR CHECKS 1. Check that opening A and not point B is present in the steering column switch unit.
    Op. 7040A26 STEERING COLUMN TRIM - R+R 1. Loosen the steering column switch unit retaining band.2. Release the steering column switch unit (2a) working gently on the release tooth (2b).
If the stalk unit is reused, take care not to press the clock spring ring (1a) in order not to turn lockring (1b) on lockring (1c) and affect the operation of the clock spring.
3. Disconnect the electrical connections (3a, 3b).

4. Disconnect wiring (4a) from the retainer (4b).5. Keep the steering column switch unit.
The clock spring is fitted with a device that automatically stops it from rotating when it is removed from the steering wheel. Avoid forcing it to rotate.If the clock spring is being reused, it is advisable to secure the two shims with a band to prevent accidental rotation.
Refitting ( Removing ) - Check that the steering column switch unit is not damaged.- Remove the band, fitted to secure the lockrings, if present.
The new replacement parts are supplied to be installed in a centred position.
1. If the stalk unit to be fitted is new, remove tab (1a) securing both lockrings.
1. Check, in particular if the same steering column switch unit is being refitted, that opening A and not point B is present.- Check that the wheels are straight.
If, for any reason, the upper clock spring shim has rotated in relation to the lower to an extent that the position is unknown, the clock spring must be replaced.
- Connect the electrical connections for the steering column switch unit.- Connect the wiring to the retainer.- Fit the steering column switch unit in place, checking that it is in the end of travel position and that the rear tooth is intact and correctly attached in the steering lock.- Tighten the steering column switch unit retaining band.    Op. 7040A26 STEERING COLUMN TRIM - R+R     Op. 4110A10 STEERING WHEEL - R+R FOR REPLACEMENT OR CHECKS     Op. 5580C18 AIR BAG MODULE - R+R
