Removing ( Refitting )
Do not remove the ignition with the steering lock on the car because the vibrations generated during removal of the shear bolts could cause damage to the steering lock assembly.
- Follow the instructions for the following operation.    Op. 5580C18 AIR BAG MODULE - R+R     Op. 4110A10 STEERING WHEEL - R+R FOR REPLACEMENT OR CHECKS     Op. 7040A26 STEERING COLUMN TRIM - R+R     Op. 5550A10 STALK UNIT ASSEMBLY - R+R     Op. 7040A37 FUSE BOX COVER IN INSTRUMENT PANEL - R.R     Op. 7040A30 LEFT LOWER DASHBOARD TRIM - R.R.    Op. 5010C55 LOWER AIR DIFFUSER (ONE) LH OR RH - R.R     Op. 5580E08 AERIAL FOR ELECTRONIC KEY (CODE) - R.R     Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R R 1. Use collar (1a) to secure shaft (1b) so that it cannot turn during removal of the switch with steering lock.
Avoid moving the steering lock components. Do not withdraw interior parts and do not turn the steering column.
2. Remove the shear bolts using a drift and mallet.3. Remove the half-collar.4. Remove the ignition with steering lock.5. If necessary, drill out rivets (5a) and remove mount (5b).
- If necessary, carry out the following procedures    Op. 5520A18 IGNITION SWITCH CONTACT CARRIER LOCK BARREL - R.R.    Op. 5520A14 IGNITION KEY LOCK BARREL - R+R Refitting ( Removing ) - Check that the ignition with steering lock is not damaged.    Op. 5520A14 IGNITION KEY LOCK BARREL - R+R     Op. 5520A18 IGNITION SWITCH CONTACT CARRIER LOCK BARREL - R.R.- If removed, position the mount and apply rivets.- Remove the ignition with steering lock in its seat.- Position collar.- Screw in and tighten the new special bolts until the heads shear off.- Remove the retaining band from the shaft.    Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R R     Op. 5580E08 AERIAL FOR ELECTRONIC KEY (CODE) - R.R     Op. 5010C55 LOWER AIR DIFFUSER (ONE) LH OR RH - R.R     Op. 7040A30 LEFT LOWER DASHBOARD TRIM - R.R.    Op. 7040A37 FUSE BOX COVER IN INSTRUMENT PANEL - R.R     Op. 5550A10 STALK UNIT ASSEMBLY - R+R     Op. 7040A26 STEERING COLUMN TRIM - R+R     Op. 4110A10 STEERING WHEEL - R+R FOR REPLACEMENT OR CHECKS     Op. 5580C18 AIR BAG MODULE - R+R - Test the operation of the ignition and steering lock.
