CHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Turn the ignition ON and check the fan is off.Move on to Step 4
2Turn the ignition key ON.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 1 fan relay control and check it is successful.Move on to Step 9
3On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 2 fan relay control and check it is successful.Move on to Step 22
4Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T2 (in the top left of the four in the middle)Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 87 of the relay base unit and Earth, ensuring it is less than 0.3 V.Move on to Step 8.Move on to Step 5
5Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T1 (the bottom left of the four in the middle)Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 87 of relay T2 base unit and Earth, ensuring it is less than 0.3 V.Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine fan motor and the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING
6Connect a (3 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 85 of the base unit of relay T1 and earth, checking that it is greater than 0.3 V.Replace relay T1
7If faults are present, repair or, if necessary, replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the engine compartment junction unit.    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING The test can be considered overReplace the engine management control unit    Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - R.R
8Connect a (3 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 85 of the base unit of relay T2 and the battery positive, checking that it is greater than 0.3 V.Move on to Step 7.Replace relay T2.

10Remove fuse F13 (second from the left) in the engine compartment junction unit and check it has not blown.Move on to Step 16.Move on to Step 11
11Fit a new fuse F13 and check it does not blow.Restore the correct electrical connections in the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING If necessary, replace it    Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R.
12Connect a shunt cable with a fuse across pin 87 of the base unit for relay T2 and the battery positive, checking that it has not blown. Continue to step 14.Move on to Step 13
13If faults are present, repair or, if necessary, replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the engine compartment junction unit.    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING The test can be considered overReplace the fan    Op. 1088E10 RADIATOR COOLING FAN - R + R
14Disconnect the shunt connection.Turn the ignition key ON.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 2 fan relay control and check fuse F13 does not blow.Replace relay T2.
15Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T1 (the bottom left of the four in the middle)Connect a shunt cable with a fuse across pin 87 of the relay base unit and the battery positive, checking that it has not blown.Move on to Step 13.Replace relay T1
16Measure the voltage between fuse F13 input contact and earth, checking it is greater than 11 VRepair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the battery positive and the engine compartment junction unit    See E1010 POWER SUPPLY
17Restore the correct electrical connections in the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING If necessary, replace it    Op. 5505A13 ADDITIONAL JUNCTION UNIT IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - R.R. The test can be considered over-
18Connect a test bulb (3W) between Pins 85 and 86 of relay T2 base unit.Turn the ignition key ON.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 1 fan relay control and check the bulb flashes.Move on to Step 7
19Turn the ignition key OFF.Connect a bridge with a fuse to Pins 30 and 87 of the base unit for relay T2.Check that the fan does not turn at low speed.Replace relay T2.
20Disconnect the shunt connection.Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the engine fan motor.Measure the resistance between Pin 87 of relay T2 base unit and Pin 2 of the motor, checking that it is less than 5 Ohm    See N011 FAN MOTOR Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine fan motor and the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING
21If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine fan motor and earth    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING The test can be considered overReplace the fan    Op. 1088E10 RADIATOR COOLING FAN - R + R

24Turn the ignition key OFF.Connect a shunt connection lead with a fuse between Pins 30 and 87 of the base unit of relay T1 and check that the fan turns at high speed.Move on to Step 13
