The turbocharger (1) is connected to the exhaust manifold; it is designed to increase the volumetric efficiency of the engine.It consists essentially of two impellers fitted to the same shaft which turns on floating bearings that are lubricated by a branch (3) of the engine lubrication circuit.

The turbocharger is fitted with a wastegate valve (2) controlled by pneumatic actuator (4) that cuts off part of the exhaust gas flow to the turbine depending on the pressure reached at the compressor output.
