199003043 - 1060GA RPM SENSOR EFFICIENCY CHECK

STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
Turn the ignition key ON.The revolutions must be higher than 60 rpm.Move on to Step 4
With the engine idling and warm, with all users off and the accelerator pedal not operated, the engine rpm must be in a range between 780 and 1,100 rpm.Move on to Step 4
Operate the accelerator pedal at maximum for a short time. The engine rpm must roughly coincide with the reading visible on the instrument panel. The test can be considered overMove on to Step 4
Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the cable loom connector from the engine management control unit connector A.Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between control unit Pins 43 and 59    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU and Earth, checking it is less than 0.3 V ]Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the rpm sensor and the engine control unit    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
Turn the ignition key OFF.Measure the resistance between control unit Pins 43 and 59    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU and Earth, checking it is greater than 500 kOhmsMove on to Step 7Move on to Step 6
If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the rpm sensor and the engine control unit.    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered overChange the rpm sensor    Op. 1060G20 ENGINE RPM SENSOR - R.R.
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the rpm sensor.Measure the resistance across control unit sensor Pin 43 (wiring side)    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU and sensor Pin 1 (wiring side)    See K046 RPM SENSOR checking that it is less than 5 Ohm.Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the rpm sensor and the engine control unit    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
Measure the resistance across control unit sensor Pin 59 (wiring side)    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU and sensor Pin 2 (wiring side)    See K046 RPM SENSOR checking that it is less than 5 Ohm.Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the rpm sensor and the engine control unit    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
Check that the rpm sensos is not affected by faults such as intermittent contacts, missing teeth, incorrect reference point, incorrect gap positino (this should be between 0.5 and 1.5 mm)Restore the correct positioning or replace the rpm sensor if necessary    Op. 1060G20 ENGINE RPM SENSOR - R.R.
Change the rpm sensor    Op. 1060G20 ENGINE RPM SENSOR - R.R.
