1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check, in the "Parameter Reading" mode for the Electric Steering Node, that there are no errors and that the parameters are present.Move on to Step 9Impossible to connect to the control unit.Move on to Step 2
Presence of errors.Move on to Step 6
Low battery voltage parameter reading.Move on to Step 8
2ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the electricity supply to the Electric Steering Node is correct With the panel off, check for a voltage of around 12.5V at the blue connector. With the panel on, check for the same voltage at PIN 1 of the black connector for the CAN line signals.    See E7045 ELECTRIC STEERING Move on to Step 3Battery voltage faulty.Move on to Step 8
Fault in positive electrical supply and/or earth.Replace the component causing the problem (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused the damage).
3ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the electrical connections for the Electric Steering Node and the Body Computer searching for any loose connections creating occasional breaks in supply. In particular, make sure that every PIN is correctly connected and fitted in place. Take GREAT care over the positive battery terminal leading to the 70 A fuse for the electric steering (left terminal). If it is secured but NOT correctly fitted in place, disconnect it and fasten it correctly.    See E7045 ELECTRIC STEERING Move on to Step 4Electrical connections not operational.Renew the damaged electrical connections.
4NO VOLTAGE CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Start up the engine and then switch it off. At this point, with the panel off, check that the voltage at PIN 1 of the black connector for the CAN line signals is effective 0V.    See E7045 ELECTRIC STEERING Move on to Step 5The voltage at PIN 1 with the panel off is more than 0 V.DO NOT replace the Electric Steering Assembly. Electrical equipment problem. Contact TESEO.
5CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Recheck the possibility of connecting to the Electric Steering Node using the Examiner.Move on to Step 1Impossible to connect to the control unit.Replace the Electric Steering assembly.    Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R R
6ERROR CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check for the presence of one or more of the following errors using the Examiner in the Electric Steering Door Node ambient:- C1214, incorrect end of line configuration.- C1001, internal control unit error.- C1002, steering column torque/position sensor error- C1008, position sensor not calibrated.- C1200, services battery error.- C1003 or U1700 or U1701, Body Computer node/vehicle speed errors.- U0001, CAN errorEnd of diagnosis.Error C1214 detected, incorrect end of line calibration (there is no lack of power assistance).DO NOT replace the Electric Steering assembly. This is not an error but the normal system configuration. If the error is still present, check whether the vehicle has been proxied but do not replace the Electric Steering assembly.
Internal control unit error detected (C1001).Replace the Electric Steering assembly.    Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R R
Steering column torque/position sensor faulty (C1002).Move on to Step 10.
Position sensor not calibrated (C1008, there is no lack of power assistance).DO NOT replace the Electric Steering Assembly. Move on to Step 14.
Services battery faulty (C1200, there is no lack of power assistance).DO NOT replace the Electric Steering Assembly. Move on to Step 8.
Body Computer node / vehicle speed faulty (C1003, U1700 or U1701, there is no lack of power assistance).DO NOT replace the Electric Steering Assembly. Move on to Step 7.
CAN faulty (U0001, there is no lack of power assistance).DO NOT replace the Electric Steering assembly. CAN problem. Move on to Step 7.
7PRACTICAL TESTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check and clean the earths. Check for the presence of similar errors in other devices on the vehicle. Restore the operation of the Engine management and Body Computer Node Check the CAN connections. Delete the error(s) and carry out a road test checking that the fault is no longer present.End of diagnosisThe error occurs again.DO NOT replace the Electric Steering assembly. Vehicle signals problem. Contact TESEO
8BATTERY ELECTRICAL CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the following, in order:- Battery supply voltage level correct.- Power connection correctbetween battery, earth and Electric Steering Assembly connector.    See E1010 POWER SUPPLY End of diagnosis.Services battery voltage faulty.Restore the correct operation of the battery.
Loose connections detected in the Electric Steering Node supply circuitRepair the wiring
9ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the electrical connections for the Electric Steering Node searching for any loose connections creating occasional breaks in supply. In particular, make sure that every PIN is correctly connected and fitted in place.    See E7045 ELECTRIC STEERING End of diagnosis.Electrical connections not operational.Renew the damaged electrical connections.
10CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Using the Examiner in the Electric Steering Node ambient, after having confirmed the presence of the error, enter the error parameters and identify the item Temporary Electric Steering Error.-Temporary Electric Steering Error 23.Move on to Step 11.
Temporary Electric Steering Error 19Move on to Step 12.
Temporary Electric Steering Error 32 or 25.Move on to Step 11.
Temporary Electric Steering Error 99 (there is no lack of power assistance).DO NOT replace the Electric Steering Assembly. Possible incorrect installation of system in vehicle. Check that the intermediate shaft is properly installed in the correct angular position.
11ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check that the leads are correctly fastened at the battery terminals, in particular the earth lead at the negative pole. Also check that the 8-way connector is correctly fitted and "securely" fastened.    See E1010 POWER SUPPLY -Wiring or connections defective.Restore the correct operation of the wiring and move on to Step 13
If no faults are detected in the wiring and the connections.Replace the Electric Steering assembly.    Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R R
12ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Thoroughly clean the Electric Steering Node earths, also checking the condition of the wiring and making sure that the 8-way connector is correctly inserted and "securely" fastened.    See E7045 ELECTRIC STEERING Move on to Step 13.The problem occurs again after the electrical checks.Replace the Electric Steering Assembly.    Op. 4110D20 STEERING ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE - R R
