199002321 - 0010T20 ENGINE COOLANT - CHANGE

DRAINING THE SYSTEM- With the engine cold, undo the expansion reservoir cap.- Position a suitable container for collecting the coolant.- Open the drain tap located in the lower left part of the radiator.- Open the bleed screw on the upper part of the radiator, right side.- Open the bleed screw on the expansion reservoir outlet pipe.- Remove the bleed screw on the water pump rigid inlet pipe. This bleed screw must be fully removed because it does not have a notch to allow air out. FILLING THE SYSTEM- Close the fluid drain tap and keep open the three bleed screws opened previously.- Disconnect the degasing pipe from the reservoir and introduce it into the reservoir through the filler fitting.- Fill the circuit with the specified fluid through the expansion reservoir filler fitting until fluid emerges through the bleed screw on the radiator.

- Close the bleed screw on the radiator.- Continue filling until fluid emerges from the bleed screw on the expansion reservoir outlet pipe and then from the rigid return pipe to the water pump. Close both the bleed screws.- Top up the fluid again until the tank level is up to the MAX mark.- Start up the engine and let it idle for about 2 minutes.- Revv the engine a few times. In the meantime, ensure that the coolant is circulating through the circuit. To do this, check the fluid is spouting from the degasing pipe inserted in the reservoir. If not, stop the engine and bleed the system further by making air emerge from the bleed screw on the rigid return pipe to the coolant pump. Lastly, tighten the screw.- Remove the degasing pipe from inside the reservoir and connect it to the fitting and secure with the collar.- Top up the coolant to the MAX mark on the reservoir if necessary.- Fit and tighten the expansion tank cap fully.- Remove the air from the circuit by pumping the accelerator regularly and gradually (every 30 secs) up to a speed of around 3000 rpm. This operation should be carried out until the thermostat opens and the fan switches on and off at least 3 times. During this operation keep the climate control system switched off to prevent the fan from coming on for reasons unconnected to the heating of the coolant. If there is a noticeable drop in the level in the tank below the MIN reference during this stage, let the engine idle and open the cap very carefully, topping up the fluid to the MAX level, then close the cap fully and remove all the air from the system.- Then switch off the engine and leave it to cool down.- If necessary, top up with the specified fluid to the MAX notch.- At the end of the above operations, make sure that the amount of fluid introduced into the system is at least equal to the amount collected during the draining stage.
