199002686 - 4410OA CHECKS ON CORRECT TIGHTENINGS FOR FRONT SUSPENSION

Position the vehicle on a two column lift.
If the area where the noise is coming from has been identified, firstly check the fastenings in that area, otherwise follow the order indicated.
Using a torque wrench set to the recommended value, check that the shock absorber is tightened to the mounting (1) to the recommended torque.

Using a torque wrench set to the recommended value, check that the shock absorber stem fastening on the end of travel plate (2) is tightened to the recommended torque.

Raise the vehicle and check that the front suspension fastenings are correctly tightened.Visually inspect that the yield point type bolts fastening the shock absorber to the steering knuckle (3) have not loosened.

Using a torque wrench calibrated to the recommended value, check that the fastening between the steering box and the crossmember (4) is tightened to the torque given below.

Visually inspect that the yield point type bolts securing the track control arm front bush (8a) and the track control arm rear bush (8b) have not become loose.

Using a torque wrench calibrated to the recommended value, check that the fastenings securing the track control arm joint to the steering knuckle (9) are tightened to the recommended torque.

Check, using a torque wrench calibrated to the recommended value, that the front fastenings securing the crossmember to the bodyshell side member (10a), the rear internal fastenings securing the crossmember to the bodyshell side member (10b) and the rear external fastenings securing the crossmember to the bodyshell side member (10c) are tightened to the torque figures indicated below.
