199002973 - 1060FA INJECTOR OPERATION CHECK

Proceed as follows on the injector presumed to be faulty.

STEP	CHECK TO BE PERFORMED	RESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1	Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the wiring harness connector from engine control unit connector BTurn the ignition key ON.Check that the resistance between Earth and: Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is less than 0.3 V	Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
2	Turn the ignition key OFF.Check that the resistance between Earth and: Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhmsMove on to Step 6	Move on to Step 3
3	Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the injector.Check that the resistance between Earth and: Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhms	Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
4	Check that the resistance between Earth and: Pin 47 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 31 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 46 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 33 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhms	Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
5	Replace the injector    Op. 1060F10 FUEL INJECTORS - R.R. The test can be considered over
6	Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the injector.Check that the resistance across: Pins 16 and 47 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pins 2 and 31 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pins 1 and 46 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pins 17 and 33 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhms	Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring of the engine control unit    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
7	Check that the resistance across pin 1 of the injector    See N070 INJECTOR and: Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is less than 5 Ohms	Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
8	Check that the resistance across pin 2 of the injector    See N070 INJECTOR and: Pin 47 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 31 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 46 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Pin 33 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is less than 5 Ohms	Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
9	Check that the resistance across pins 1 and 2 (wiring side) of the injector    See N070 INJECTOR is between 0.3 and 0.7 Ohms	Replace the injector    Op. 1060F10 FUEL INJECTORS - R.R.
10	Carry out a visual check on the condition of the injector and connector pipes to ensure it is OK	Replace the faulty component
11	Replace the engine management control unit    Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - R.R
