DESCRIPTION

The Blue&Me system, alongside the Bluetooth technology for using a mobile phone in the vehicle, is also available with a navigation system for reaching a destination speedily and safely. One is guided to the destination by voice messages and instructions on the instrument panel display. The navigator makes it possible to:- enter a new destination- navigate to a point of interest (which can be selected from a list of categories such as, for example, hotels, restaurants, airports, railway stations, etc.)- acquire journey information (arrival time, distance from the destination, vehicle position)- recover the last destinations memorized- set preference for the type of route to be followed such as, for example, motorway, toll roads,- simulate the ruote to a prearranged destination in advance. The GPS consists of an aerial that allows the vehicle to be GPS satellite-located: the aerial is connected to a receiver located in the integrated unit by means of a special shielded cable. The GSM aerial, on the other hand, is connected to the GSM unit inside the control unit, used for connecting the GPRS data for services such as traffic in real time, navigation, etc. The stylus aerial is fitted at the rear of the roof: it performs three functions (radio/GSM/GPS) because it also incorporates the radio aerial.Vehicle position is identified by analysing GPS data together with speedometer and reverse gear signals received from the vehicle. The navigation maps are loaded onto the USB device connected to the USB port on the vehicle. The control unit that manages the entire system is a CAN node via which information is exchanged with the Body Computer, the instrument panel and the other electronic units (e.g. the navigation system downloads information from the odometer, reverse engagement signal etc. ).The control unit is also connected to radio controls on the steering wheel (two special keys for this function are provided in addition to the radio control keys). The entire operation of the system is also managed by voice commands, picked up by the microphone near the front courtesy light. There are three additional control buttons in the trim in front of the centre courtesy light:- NAV: launch of the Navigation Menu - display of incoming information with navigation activated- SOS: access to Roadside Assistance Services- Info: access to infomobility servicesFor more details on system operation    See descriptions 5580M ON-BOARD NAVIGATOR
