Removing ( Refitting ) - Position the vehicle on a lift.    Op. 7040L22 REAR COVER ON TUNNEL - R.R.1. Loosen the handbrake lever cable adjustment nut.
- Undo the brake-clutch fluid reservoir cap and fit the tool.

The operations for the components on the left side are described below. Proceed in the same way for the components on the right side.
1. Position a hydraulic lift under the rear suspension axle by the spring.2. Disconnect the parking brake control cable and remove it from the fastenings on the axle.3. Undo the bolt securing the shock absorber to the suspension axle.4. Lower the hydraulic lift slowly to remove the pin from the spring.5. Undo the bolt and remove the ABS sensor.- Remove the hydraulic lift.
1. Disconnect the rear brake pipe intermediate connector.2. Undo the toothed washer securing the fuel tank heat shield.
- Prepare the equipment for removing-refitting the rear suspension axle as described below.1. Fit the support (1a) on the column lift (1b).

2. Fit the frame (2a) complete with adaptors (2b).

The adapators (2b) supplied are galvanized and have an M10 thread for fitting on the frame.
- If the above mentioned hydraulic lift is not available, an ordinary hydraulic lift can be used plus the adaptor illustrated which can be constructed in the workshop to allow the use of the frames mentioned above.
(*): Ensure the shank diameter fits the hydraulic lift used. 1. Support the rear suspension axle using the equipment (1a) prepared previously taking care that the adaptors (1b) are positioned in the axle-body centering openings as illustrated.2. Undo the bolts (2a) securing the rear suspension axle (2b) to the bodyshell and remove it from its housing.
1. Remove the clips (1a), undo the connector (1b) and remove the brake pipe (1c).2. Undo the bolt (2a) and remove the axle support (2b).3. Remove the clip securing the flexible brake pipe connector.4. Undo the bolts (4a) and remove the wheel hub assembly (4b).
Refitting ( Removing ) - Before refitting the rear suspension axle check that there are no cracks or distortions. If there are, replace it.
The operations for the components on the left side are described below. Proceed in the same way for the components on the right side.
- Position the wheel hub assembly on the axle and secure it tightening the bolts to the recommended torque.

1. Place the axle support in position using the bolt (1a) and secure it to the adaptor (1b) in the fitting position using the spacer (1c) and the bolt (1d).- Tighten the bolt to the recommended torque.

- Undo the bolt and remove the spacer fitted previously on the adaptor.
- Place the brake pipe in position, connect it to the brake cylinder and secure it to the brackets on the axle using the clips.- Support the rear suspension axle using the equiped used for the removal, place it in position taking care to ensure that the adaptors are aligned with the axle-body centering openings.- Tighten the bolts fixing the rear suspension axle to the body to the recommended torque.

- Remove the hydraulic lift with the equipment used.- Position a hydraulic lift under the rear suspension axle by the spring.- Place the spring in its housing.- Raise the axle and then tighten the bolt fixing the shock absorber to the rear suspension axle to the recommended torque.
