199002973 - 1060FA INJECTOR OPERATION CHECK

Proceed as follows on the injector presumed to be faulty.
STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the wiring harness connector from engine control unit connector BTurn the ignition key ON.Check that the resistance between Earth and:

  • Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is less than 0.3 V
Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
2Turn the ignition key OFF.Check that the resistance between Earth and:

  • Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhmsMove on to Step 6
Move on to Step 3
3Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the injector.Check that the resistance between Earth and:

  • Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhms
Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
4Check that the resistance between Earth and:

  • Pin 47 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 31 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 46 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 33 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhms
Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
5Replace the injector    Op. 1060F10 FUEL INJECTORS - R.R. The test can be considered over
6Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the injector.Check that the resistance across:

  • Pins 16 and 47 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pins 2 and 31 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pins 1 and 46 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pins 17 and 33 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is greater than 500 kOhms
Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring of the engine control unit    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
7Check that the resistance across pin 1 of the injector    See N070 INJECTOR and:

  • Pin 16 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 2 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 1 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 17 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is less than 5 Ohms
Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
8Check that the resistance across pin 2 of the injector    See N070 INJECTOR and:

  • Pin 47 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 1
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 31 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 2
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 46 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 3
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU

  • Pin 33 (wiring side) of the control unit for injector 4
    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU is less than 5 Ohms
Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the injector    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
9Check that the resistance across pins 1 and 2 (wiring side) of the injector    See N070 INJECTOR is between 0.3 and 0.7 OhmsReplace the injector    Op. 1060F10 FUEL INJECTORS - R.R.
10Carry out a visual check on the condition of the injector and connector pipes to ensure it is OKReplace the faulty component
11Replace the engine management control unit    Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - R.R
