However, the presence of exhaust gases (up to 25%) does not adversely affect the rapid and regular combustion because a shuttering system for the inlet ducts and the special asymmetrical design of the actual ducts considerably increases the level of turbulence. The variation in turbulence, between low speeds and full load conditions, is produced by means of a slider valve comprising a suitable shaped plate that slides between the intake manifold and the cylinder head plane opening or closing one of the two inlet ducts for each cylinder.The modifications made to the timing and the intake and exhaust manifolds have improved performance with a further reduction in consumption and pollutant emissions.
