223001446 - E2011 DIPPED HEADLAMPS - DESCRIPTION

Description

The vehicle has two special lamps for the dipped beam headlamps. The dipped beam headlamps are switched on through the steering column switch unit by turning the special ring nut in the position after the side lights (second position). The dipped headlamps remain on even with the main beam headlamps switched on - they go off, however, when the fog lights are switched on.The vehicle is equipped with a Follow me home function. This is a strategy which allows the dipped headlamps to remain on, even with the ignition switched off, for a pre-set time (within wo minutes of the vehicle stopping). This function is particularly useful, for example, after parking the car in a garage or in poorly lit areas. The function is activated using the left steering column switch unit lever (headlamp flasher): each time the lever is activated, the dipped headlamps stay on for another 30 seconds up to a maximum of 5 minutes and then go off automatically. The circuit is protected by two fuses, one for the right hand headlamp, one for the left hand headlamp. The dipped headlamps circuit also enables the operation of several other functions, for example, switching on the rear fog lamps and the operation of the headlamp alignment.
