Description

The system operates with the ignition key turned ON.The windscreen wiper system is activated by the steering column switch unit lever on the right of the steering wheel.

There are five different positions for this lever corresponding to:

• windscreen wiper off (standstill);
• intermittent operation (up to 4 types of intermittent function);
• continuous fast operation (1st speed);
• continuous fast operation (2nd speed);
• temporary operation (unstable lever position, lever returns to neutral position when released and automatically deactivates the windscreen wiper.

The windscreen washer function is operated by pulling the lever gently towards the steering wheel: the windscreen washer pump is activated in this way; if the lever is kept in this position, the windscreen wiper comes on (continuous operation); when the lever is released, the windscreen wiper still works for a few strokes.The operation of the windscreen wiper is governed by an electronic device, inside the steering wheel stalk unit, which generates the intermittent function and controls the operation of the actual windscreen wiper motor.The windscreen wash/wipe circuit is protected by a fuse and is operated by a relay both in the junction unit under the dashboard.
