1. Fit the tool (1a) complete with dial gauge (1b) in the seat for the spark plug for cylinder no. 1.

Turn the crankshaft through slight regular movements until the piston for cylinder 1 is at TDC on the dial gauge.With the piston set to TDC as described above, adjust the camshaft timing.1. Fit the tools (1a) for timing the camshafts and secure them using the nuts (1b) inserting the tooth (1c) in the splining (1d) on the camshafts.

Refitting ( Removing ) 1. Loosen the bolts (1a) for the toothed driven pulleys, using the tool (1b) for counter-torque.

1. Undo the bolt (1a) and fit the tool (1b) for tensioning the toothed timing drive belt.

Rotate the crankshaft throught two revolutions in its normal direction of rotation.1. Loosen the nut retaining the timing belt moving tensioner.2. Using the tool (2a) slowly discharge the toothed timing belt tension until the moving reference (2b) is in line with the fixed reference (2c).

Remove the tool for tensioning the toothed timing drive belt and tighten the bolt removed for positioning.
It is advisable to recheck the timing by refitting the tools on the camshafts and checking that the first cylinder is at T.D.C. using the dial gauge and the extension. If the engine timing is not correct or there are problems with the timing belt, the procedure must be repeated.
