223001465 - E2012 MAIN BEAM HEADLAMPS - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

Functional description

The activation of the main beam headlamps is controlled by an earth signal coming from the steering column switch unit H05 by rotating a ring nut and it reaches the body computer M01 at pin 33 connector F.To switch the main beam headlamps on, the body computer M01 energizes a relay R2 , housed in the engine compartment junction unit B01 , from pin 9 connector C. Another energizing signal, coming from the ignition switch H01 , reaches the relay R2 at the same time and enters pin 30 connector B of the engine compartment junction unit B01 .The latter receives the supply directly from pin 1 connector A and sends it to the right and left headlamps at the outlets at pins 22 and 25 of connector B, respectively. Each line is protected by a fuse in the engine compartment junction unit B01: F15 for the left headlamp, F14 for the right headlamp.Body computer M01 also controls the activation of the light on the instrument panel E50 .The body computer can be supplied via pin 11 connector E (supply ''controlled by the ignition'') and pin A connector C (direct supply) of the junction unit B02 . There is a protective fuse F1 for the direct supply which is located in the junction unit B01 .These lines also supply the instrument panel E50 via two lines protected by fuses F37 and F53 .Pins 8 and 9 connector D of the body computer are connected to earth.
