A Webasto "Thermo Top C that operates completely independently of the engine is available as an accessory.This device makes it possible to:
heat the coolant and therefore the engine;
heat the passenger compartment and thus defrost the windows.
Device installation requires the heater unit to be connected to the engine cooling, fuel feed and vehicle electrical system interface systems.The system consists of:
a heating unit that essentially consists of a diesel burner;
an silencer for fuel combustion exhaust gases;
a metering pump fitted on the fuel return pipe that delivers fuel to the burner;
a heat exchanger, coaxial to the burner, connected via the vehicle coolant system;
an output pipe from the metering pump to the metering device;
an electronic control unit for controlling and regulating auxiliary heater system functions built into the heater unit;
a digital timer for programming the heater activation time or for immediate manual activation.
The power supply to the heater is protected by special fuses located in the optional junction unit under the instrument facia.
