The system is operated with the key ON.The windscreen wiper system is operated by the stalk switch located to the right of the steering wheel.This stalk may be moved to five different positions that correspond to the following functions:
windscreen wiper off (stationary);
intermittent operation (up to four types of intermittent setting are present);
continuous fast operation (first speed);
continuous fast operation (second speed);
temporary operation (unstable stalk position), stalk retursn to neutral position when released and automatically deactivates the windscreen wiper.
The windscreen wiper function can be deactivated by pulling the stalk slightly toward the steering wheel: the windscreen washer pump is then operated. The wiper comes on too if the stalk remains pulled back (continuous operation). The wiper continues to work for a few sweeps when the stalk is released.Windscreen wiper operation is governed by an electronic device built into the stalk unit. This generates the intermittent function and controls operation of the wiper motor.The windscreen wash/wipe circuit is protected by a fuse and controlled by a relay in the engine bay junction unit and specific fuses housed in the junction unit under the instrument facia.
