244000390 - LPG TANK

The LPG in a liquid state is stored at a pressure that can vary, according to the temperataure and composition, from 2 to 15 bar, in a cylindrical shaped tank fastened under the floor of the vehicle. The tank is made entirely from steel (to meet legal requirements), designed for an explosion pressure of at least 67.5 bar in accordance with regulation CEE E67-01.
The LPG canister is certified in accordance with European standard ECE R67/01. The canister lasts for 10 years; after this time it must be replaced.
The tank weighs around 30 kg when empty and has a capacity of 57 litres; the surface has a 60-80 micron thick treatment with anti-corrosion products. It is fitted with a flange (2) which contains the system control valves. A sealed container protects the valves fitted on the tank flange.Inside the tank there is an automotive type fuel pump (3) (of petrol origin) which allows the circulation of the LPG through the flange and the pipes to the injectors: some of the fuel that is not used is recirculated to the tank. The LPG pump (3) is housed on a tray secured at the base to the bottom of the tank; it consists of an electric motor with a 12V supply and is operated by the LPG Metatron 5D0 control unit. The maximum pump flow rate, with a pressure of between 0.8 and 1 bar, is 120 litres/hour, whilst the minimum recirculation capacity is 20 litres/hour.The multivalve assembly (5), comprising an 80% liquid LPG pressurizing valve with an excess flow valve and a calibrated port for LPG recirculation, is fitted on the flange (2). A second valve, with a cut out solenoid valve, controls the supply of liquid LPG to the injector holder body and a third safety valve allows the controlled escape of LPG from the tank, when the tank pressure exceeds 27 bar, through a special pipe (8); a 4-pin cable duct in the flange is designed for passing the LPG pump supply cables through.A reed relay level sensor is fitted in the tank which has the dual function of measuring the level of LPG in the tank to send the reading to the LED display in the SEDIMO device and of informing the control unit about the quantity of fuel in the tank to allow switching from LPG to petrol. There is a plate (9) on the top part of the tank containing the tank identification data.
The tank identification plate contains the following data:A. tank serial number;B. manufacture date;C. type of tank;D. tank volume in litres;E. liquid typeF. operating pressure;G. homologation codes;E3 67R-0158027 CLASS 1
