The following preliminary operations must be carried out before removing and refitting the pretensioner for the lumbar branch of the front seat belt:(1) turn the ignition key to the OFF position and extract it;(2) disconnect the battery terminals and insulate them;(3) wait for at least 10 minutes before continuing.

FOLLOW ALL THE RECOMMENDED SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Op. 5580C AIR BAG SYSTEM - Straighten the front wheels, then engage the first steering lock to the right and remove the ignition key.- Keep the steering column adjustment lever closed during all the removing-refitting stages. Op. 5580C18 AIR BAG MODULE - R+R Op. 4110A10 STEERING WHEEL - R+R FOR REPLACEMENT OR CHECKS Op. 5550A10 STALK UNIT ASSEMBLY - R+R - If the vehicle is equipped with knee bags Op. 5580C23 DRIVER'S KNEE BAG - R.R.Op. 7040A30 1. Undo the bolt (1a) and disconnect the steering column joint (1b) from the steering box.

1. Undo the nuts (1a) and the bolts (1b), then remove the steering control shafts support (1c).

Refitting ( Removing

) 1. Fit the steering control shafts support (1a) in place and tighten the nuts (1b) and the bolts (1c) to the recommended torque.

1. Connect the joint for the steering column to the steering box (1a) and tighten the fixing bolt (1b) to the recommended torque.
