Refitting ( Removing ) - Observe the following precaution.
Handle the Air Bag module very carefully. Make sure that the battery is disconnected.
If a new module is being fitted, position the labels. Remove the detachable part of the adhesive label from the new module and place it in the special folder containing the vehicle details (model, registration date, chassis number) and the serial number of the old module. The file should be kept for future checks. A new adhesive plate comes with the module and should be stuck on top of the existing one. Beforehand, however, it should be perforated at the month and 14 years after the year in which the module is being fitted (e.g. 2007 for 2021).
The intensity of the impact could cause distortion of the seat frame. The following checks should therefore be carried out to ascertain the condition of the frame.- Visually inspect that the seat frame is not distorted or cracked.- Check that the collapsing eyelets are not distorted.- Check seat joint is intact.- Check for possible torsional distortion of the backrest by measuring the backrest frame diagonals.- Check that the measurements are the same and that the intersection of the diagonals is at the centre of the backrest.- Carry out all the movements for the seat functions checking that there is no sticking or noise.
If the results of the checks are positive, only the damaged components need to be replaced (Air Bag module, wiring, cover, etc.). Handle Air Bag module with extreme care. Make sure that the battery is disconnected.
- Fit side air bag in position and secure retaining clip wiring. 1. Tighten side air bag nut to the backrest frame.2. Connect side air bag earth ring.
