312000910 - E2031 REAR FOG LAMPS - DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION

The vehicle is equipped with an extra-bright red rear fog lamp located in the left light cluster.The rear fog lamp is activated via the special button in the controls in the dashboard; when the lights are on, the warning light in the instrument panel comes on.The switching on of the rear fog lamp is managed by the Body Computer; it is activated by:

  • ignition ON enablement signal (INT);
  • dipped headlights on signal;
  • control signal coming from the dedicated button (depending on the trim level, one press or two).
Pressing the button once only activates the rear fog lamp on versions which do not have fog lights. Pressing it the next time switches it off.If fog lights are fitted, on the other hand, the button described has a dual function:

  • the first time it is pressed, the fog lights are activated;
  • the second time it is pressed, the rear fog lamp is also activated;
  • the third time it is pressed, both lights are deactivated.
    See E2030 FOG LIGHTS If the dipped headlights are switched off, the rear fog lamp is automatically disabled even if the button has been activated. When the dipped headlights are switched on again, the rear fog lamp does not come on automatically, but only when the button is pressed again.If the key is switched off (OFF position) and then switched back to the MAR (ON) position M, the button must be activated again to turn on the fog lights.The correct operation of the side light is controlled by the rear fog lamp check function activated by the Body Computer and the following are monitored:

  • open circuit (bulb missing or wiring interrupted);
  • closed circuit to earth (bulb s.c. or wiring s.c. to earth);
  • short circuit to battery voltage (wiring short circuited to Vbatt).
When one of the situations described above is ascertained, the Body Computer makes the failure status available to the CAN: a special "general failure" warning light comes on in the instrument panel and, at the same time, the information is shown in the display.
