FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The control unit for the Air Bag system M060 receives a supply controlled by the ignition (INT) at pin 2 of connector A from the line protected by fuse F50 of the Body Computer M001 (pin 3 of connector E).Pin 1 connector A of M060 is connected to the specific earth C050A.The early crash front sensor K039 detects slight impacts and signals them to the control unit M060 (pin 12 of connector A); pin 11 of connector A of M060 provides a reference earth to the sensor.When, according to the control logic and to the information supplied from the sensor and the sensors incorporated into the actual control unit, a slight frontal impact is detected, the control unit M060 sends control signals for the intervention of the front modules in the first activation stage, in particular:
to the driver side Air Bag Q009, via the clock spring on flywheel D047 (pin 11 and 12), from pins 15 (positive) and 16 (earth) of connector A;
to the passenger side Air Bag Q011, from pins 13 (earth) and 14 (positive) of connector A;
to the passenger side knee Air Bag Q014, from pins 23 (positive) and 24 (earth) of connector A;
to the front pretensioners on the reels (central pillars) - driver side Q020A, from pins 15 (earth) and 16 (positive) of connector B, and passenger side Q021A, from pins 13 (positive) and 14 (earth) of the same connector;
to the driver side Q020B front pretensioners on seat belt anchorages (3 way), from pins 20 (earth) and 21 (positive) of connector B, and passenger side Q021B, from pins 18 (positive) and 19 (earth) of the same connector.
If a more serious frontal impact is detected, the control unit M060 sends signals for the intervention of the front modules in the second activation stage, in particular:
to the driver side Air Bag Q009, via the clock spring on flywheel D047 (pin 9 and 10), from pins 19 (positive) and 20 (earth) of connector A;
to the passenger side Air Bag Q011, from pins 17 (earth) and 18 (positive) of connector A.
The sensor for the driver''s Side Bag K066 is connected to pin 25 (signal) and 24 (reference earth) of connector B of the Air Bag control unit M060, whilst the sensor for the passenger Side Bag K067 is connected to pin 22 (signal) and 23 (reference earth) of the same connector.When, on the basis of the control logic and of the information supplied by the sensors, a side impact of a certain severity is detected, the control unit M060 sends control signals for the intervention of the side modules, in particular:
to the driver side front Side bag Q030A, from pins 11 (earth) and 12 (positive) of connector B;
to the passenger side front Side bag Q031A, from pins 9 (positive) and 10 (earth) of connector B;
to the driver side Head Bag Q040, from pins 3 (earth) and 4 (positive) of connector B;
to the passenger side Head Bag Q041, from pins 1 (positive) and 2 (earth) of connector B.
The seat structures that house the driver side Q040B and passenger side Q041B Side Bags are connected to earth C050B.The driver side I046 and passenger side I047 seat belt switches receive a reference earth from the control unit M060 (pin 27 of connector B) and send the respective signal to pins 28 and 26 of connector B of the same control unit.The passenger presence sensor K065, located on the seat, receives a reference earth from pin 30 of connector B of M060 and sends the related signal to pin 29 of the same connector.The control unit M060 (pin 7 and 8 of connector A) is connected, via the B-CAN line, to the Body Computer M001 and to the instrument panel E050.When the system autodiagnostic function detects a fault or an impact is recorded, the control unit M060 sends a signal, via the CAN, to activate the Air Bag fault warning light located in the device E050.If the seat belts are unfastened, the instrument panel E050 will indicate this dangerous situation, via the seat belt unfastened warning light and via an acoustic warning (buzzer).Pressing the keys located to the right of the instrument panel, via the Set-up menu on the instrument panel display, deactivates the passenger side Air bags (front and Side Bag), determining whether the warning light is turned on.
