312003196 - 1080CB EGR SOLENOID OPERATION CHECK

CHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
Carry out active diagnosis of the EGR valve, checking that the result is positiveThe test can be considered overMove on to Step 2
Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EGR solenoid    See L030 EGR SOLENOID VALVE Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 1 (wiring side) of the EGR solenoid and Earth, ensuring it is greater than 11 V.Move on to Step 12Move on to Step 3
Fit a new fuse F27 and check it does not blow.Move on to Step 10Move on to Step 4
Remove fuse F27 (fourth from the top in the left row) in the engine compartment junction unit and check it has not blown.Move on to Step 9Move on to Step 5
Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the wiring harness connector from engine control unit connector B    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Turn the ignition key ON.Fit a new fuse F27 and check it does not blow.Move on to Step 7Move on to Step 6
If fualts are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine compartment junction unit and the solenoid.    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT The test can be considered overReplace the engine management control unit    Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - R.R
Turn the ignition key OFF.Remove fuse F27 from the under-dashboard junction unit (fourth in the left row).Measure the resistance between Pin 1 (wiring side) of the EGR solenoid valve and earth, checking that it is more than 500 kOhm    See L030 EGR SOLENOID VALVE Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the solenoid    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
Replace the engine management control unit    Op. 1060G80 DIESEL ELECTRONIC INJECTION CONTROL UNIT - R.R The test can be considered over-
Replace the solenoid valve    Op. 1080C24 E.G.R. SYSTEM SOLENOID - R + R The test can be considered over-
Measure the voltage between fuse F27 input contact and earth, checking it is greater than 11 VRestore the correct electrical connections in the engine compartment junction unitReplace if necessaryOp. 5505A13
Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine compartment junction unit and the solenoid    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT -
Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the wiring harness connector from engine control unit connector BTurn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 5 (wiring side) of the solenoid valve and earth, checking that it is less than 0.3 V    See L030 EGR SOLENOID VALVE Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the solenoid    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
Turn the ignition key OFF.Measure the resistance between Pin 5 (wiring side) of the solenoid valve and earth, checking that it is more than 500 kOhm    See L030 EGR SOLENOID VALVE Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the solenoid    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
Measure the resistance between Pin 5 (wiring side) of the solenoid valve and Pin 15 (wiring side) of the control unit, checking that it is less than 5 Ohm    See L030 EGR SOLENOID VALVE     See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the solenoid    See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
Reconnect the wiring harness connector to the EGR solenoidTurn the ignition key ON.Use a shunt lead to make contact once between Pin 15 (wiring side) of the control unit and Earth, check that the EGR solenoid ticks.    See M010 ENGINE MANAGEMENT ECU Replace the solenoid valve    Op. 1080C24 E.G.R. SYSTEM SOLENOID - R + R
