312000590 - 1060FC INJECTOR NOISE / KNOCKING CHECK

STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDREMEDIAL ACTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1
Before proceeding with the test, in order to prevent damage to the injector coil, make sure that the connection for each injector is disconnected with the engine switched off and, once the test is over, switch the engine off again before reconnecting the connection.
In the event of noise or knocking coming from the injectors, remove the injectors and refit them, inverting the position of injector pair 1-2 with injector pair 3-4.Make sure that the housings for both injectors are clean (remove any carbon deposits from the copper washer seats)Check that the injector bracket nut is tightened to the recommended torque of 2 daNmIf the fault has disappeared after this operation, the test is over
1) The noise can be heard on the new supply line. Move on to Step 2.2) The noise persists even after having inverted the injectors. Move on to Step 3
2Replace the injector shown to be faultyOp. 1060F10
3High pressure fuel supply circuit checkCarry out the    See Test 1060OD HIGH PRESSURE FUEL CIRCUIT CHECKIf the fuel pressure is incorrect move on to Step 4
4Low pressure fuel supply circuit checkCarry out the    See Test 1060OA LOW FUEL RETURN PRESSURE CIRCUIT CHECKIf the fuel pressure is incorrect move on to Step 5
5Fuel return circuit checkCarry out the    See Test 1060OB LOW FUEL DELIVERY PRESSURE CIRCUIT CHECKRestore the correct operation of the fuel circuit
6Check if the engine runs badly when idling (e.g. it runs with 3 cylinders) Switch off the engine and disconnect the electrical connection for the first injectorStart the engine and check if there is a further variation in the idle speedRepeat the operations described above for the remaining injectorsIf there is no further variation in the idle speed, move on to step 2
7Check if the engine runs badly at speeds greater than idling Switch off the engine and disconnect the electrical connection for the first injectorStart the engine and accelerate, without engine load, until the critical engine speed is reached when the injector starts knocking.Repeat the operations described above for the remaining injectorsIf there is injector knocking at a critical engine speed. Move on to Step 2
8If the previous tests have not highlighted any faults, proceed according to the    See table S001 ENGINE KNOCK
