312001214 - 5505AH CHECK ON POWER SUPPLY TO THE PARKING SENSOR CONTROL UNIT

STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDREMEDIAL ACTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Check power supply (+15)

  • With the key turned to MAR, check for battery voltage between pin 1 of control unit 16-way connector B and earth
  • Check that the connector is correctly inserted in the other part.
  • Try to move it from its housing by making small movements in all directions, grasping the connector body in your fingers and the wiring in your hand. The connector must stay in place
  • Exercise a moderate pulling force. The connector must stay in place
  • check whether the power supply goes off, on and/or viceversa (touching/not touching)
  • pull the lead and check the stability in the groove (should not move back): exercise repeated pull-push-pull cycles on the cable and check it remains immobile.
Examine the crimping:Use a lens to examine the terminal crimping area. The barrels must be turned symmetrically and no strands should emerge from the crimped area. The bare wire section under the barrels must emerge by 0.5
If blown, replace fuse F49 in the Dashboard control unit after identifying the cause    See E3090 PARKING SENSOR Restore the wiring between the dashboard control unit and parking sensor node
2Earth checkDisconnect the control unit 16-way connector and connect an ohmmeter across pin 8 and earth to check the resistance is less than 1 ohmRestore the correct earth connection
