CHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Turn the ignition ON and check the fan is off.Move on to Step 4
2Turn the ignition key ON.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 1 fan relay control and check it is successful.Move on to Step 13
3On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 2 fan relay control and check it is successful.Move on to Step 27
4On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis high level fan relay control and check it is successful.The test can be considered overMove on to Step 40
5Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T2 (in the top left of the four in the middle)Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 87 of the relay base unit and Earth, ensuring it is less than 0.3 V.Move on to Step 11.Move on to Step 6
6Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T20 (in the bottom right of the four in the middle)Connect a test bulb (3W) between Pins 85 and 86 of the relay base unit and check it does not come on.Move on to Step 8Move on to Step 7

8Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the engine fan motor.Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 2 of the motor and Earth, ensuring it is less than 0.3 V.    See N011 FAN MOTOR Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine fan motor and the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING
9Measure the voltage between Pin 87 of relay T2 base unit and Earth, ensuring it is less than 0.3 V.Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine fan motor and the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING
10If faults are present, repair or, if necessary, replace the electrical wiring between the engine management control unit and the engine compartment junction unit.    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING The test can be considered overReplace relay T20
11Turn the ignition key OFF.Connect a test bulb (3W) between Pins 85 and 86 of relay T1 base unit (bottom left of the four in the middle) and check it does not come on.Move on to Step 7
12Replace relay T1The test can be considered over-

14Remove fuse F13 (second from the left) in the engine compartment junction unit and check it has not blown.Move on to Step 21.Move on to Step 15
15Fit a new fuse F13 and check it does not blow.Restore the correct electrical connections in the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING If necessary, replace itOp. 5505A13
16Connect a shunt cable with a fuse across pin 87 of the base unit for relay T2 and the battery positive, checking that it has not blown. Continue to step 24.Move on to Step 17
17Connect a test bulb (3W) between Pins 85 and 86 of relay T2 base unit.Turn the ignition key ON.The test can be considered overReplace the fan    Op. 1088E10 RADIATOR COOLING FAN - R + R
18Disconnect the shunt connection.Replace relay T2.Turn the ignition key ON.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 1 fan relay control and check fuse F13 does not blow.Replace relay T2.
19Turn the ignition key OFF.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T20 (in the bottom right of the four in the middle)Connect a shunt cable with a fuse across pin 87 of the relay base unit and the battery positive, checking that it has not blown.Move on to Step 17

21Measure the voltage between fuse F13 input contact and earth, checking it is greater than 11 VRepair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the battery positive and the engine compartment junction unit    See E1010 POWER SUPPLY

23Connect a test bulb (3W) between Pins 85 and 86 of relay T2 base unit.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 1 fan relay control and check the bulb flashes.Move on to Step 7
24Turn the ignition key OFF.Connect a bridge with a fuse to Pins 30 and 87 of the base unit for relay T2.In the engine compartment junction unit, remove relay T20 (in the bottom right of the four in the middle)Connect a (10 W) test lamp and a multimeter in parallel and measure the voltage between pins 30 of the base unit of relay T20 and earth, checking that it is greater than 11 V.Move on to Step 27Move on to Step 25.
25Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the engine fan motor.Turn the ignition key ON.Measure the voltage between Pin 2 of the motor and Earth, ensuring it is greater than 11 V.    See N011 FAN MOTOR Repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine fan motor and the engine compartment junction unit    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING

27Turn the ignition key OFF.Disconnect the engine fan adjustment resistance.Connect a test bulb (3W) between resistance pins 1 and 3 (wiring side)    See O010 ENGINE FAN ADJUSTMENT RESISTANCE - 1 Turn the ignition key ON.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis level 2 fan relay control and check the bulb flashes.Move on to Step 29Move on to Step 28

30Remove fuse F12 (first from the left in the second group from the top) in the engine compartment junction unit and check it has not blown.Move on to Step 35.Move on to Step 31

32Turn the ignition key ON.On the diagnostic tester, select active diagnosis high level fan relay control and check fuse F12 does not blow.Replace relay T1

35Measure the voltage between fuse F12 input contact and earth, checking it is greater than 11 VRepair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the battery positive and the engine compartment junction unit    See E1010 POWER SUPPLY

38Remove the fuse from the shunt connection.Connect the wiring harness connector to the engine fan motor.Refit the fuse in the shunt lead, checking that the fan motor does not activate.Replace the resistance    Op. 1088E20 RESISTOR FOR RADIATOR COOLING FAN - R + R
