OPERATION

The connections are illustrated in the diagram.
1. STOP: key can be removed2. MARCIA: key cannot be removed3. AVVIAM: key cannot be removed; automatic return to the MARCIA positionThe ignition/start-up switch with steering lock performs the main function of supplying certain circuits such as the ignition/injection system, starting up the engine and supplying the ignition-operated services through the insertion of a mechanical, coded key.It includes a steering lock function. The ignition key is equipped with an anti-repeater device that prevents the start-up manoeuvre from being repeated unless the key is returned to the STOP position. The steering lock has two safety devices which, if one of them is broken and the key is in the MAR position, do not allow the mechanical locking of the steering column to take place.Pressing the parking light button allows the key to move from the STOP position to the PARK position and automatically releases itself bringing the key back to the STOP position.
1. Aerial for FIAT CODE2. Aerial fitted on the switchThe ignition switch is also used as a support for the aerial required for the transfer of codes in the transponder for the ignition keys and used by the FIAT CODE system for releasing the injection control unit (NCM) and allowing the engine to be started.
