FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The electrohydraulic power assisted steering control unit M086 controls and regulates the electrically operated steering system. The direct battery power supply for control unit M086 (pin A of connector A) arrives along the line protected by fuse F05 of the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 20 of connector B). Pin B of connector A of M086 is connected to the negative battery terminal A001 (connector C).The ignition-operated power supply (15/54) arrives via a line protected by fuse F24 of B001 (pin 13 of connector B) at pin 1 of connector B of M086.The Body Computer M001 receives a direct battery power supply (pin 1 of connector A) protected by fuse F01 of the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 18 of connector B); it also receives an ignition-controlled power supply (INT) at pin 11 of connector E.The Body Computer M001 is also connected to the driver''s dashboard earth C015 via pins 9 and 10 of connector E.Control unit M086 is connected, from pins 2 and 3 of connector B, to the Body Computer M001 (pins 44 and 45 of connector B), via the C-CAN.Control unit M086 is connected, from pins 7 and 8, with the other network nodes.    See E1050 CAN CONNECTION LINES The Body Computer M001 is connected, via the B-CAN, with the instrument panel E050 to which it sends signals for activating the electric steering failure warning light and for signalling that the CITY function is on in the display. The CITY button (less steering effort), located in the switch control unit H090, receives a reference earth from pin 37 of connector D of M001 and sends the signal for turning the CITY function on to pin 28 of the same connector.
