WINDSCREEN BASE TRIM     Op. 7065C68 INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR - R+R - Remove both the sun blinds.    Op. 7065C34 SUN BLIND (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R. - Remove both front pillar trims.    Op. 7040H30 FRONT PILLAR TRIM (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT - R.R.     Op. 7040E10 FRONT COURTESY LIGHT - R+R - Move the ceiling lining away from the glass using suitable material along the perimeter in contact with the windscreen.
This operation is necessary in order to prevent accidental damage to the ceilining lining when cutting the windscreen sealant.
1. Protect the areas of the bodywork surrounding the windscreen using a double layer of adhesive tape.
1. Cut a length of wire of about 50 cm then, using pliers, introduce one end (1a) of the wire through the bead of sealant (1b) securing the windscreen (1c).2. Fasten one end (1a) of the wire to the special retaining tool (2a) located inside the vehicle. Fasten one end (2b) of the wire to the traction handle (2c) located outside the vehicle.3. The mechanic inside the vehicle should keep the end of the tool (2c) on the bead of sealant (3a) about 30 cm from the point where the wire passes through. The other mechanic, outside the vehicle, should pull the handle (2c) following the surround of the windscreen and they should cut the bead of sealant (3a). Repeat the operation in sections of about 30 cm until the bead of sealant (3a) is completely cut.- Position a spatula (2d) against the tool (2a) to protect the dashboard trim.
1. After cutting the bead of sealant, fit the suction pads to the windscreen and then remove the windscreen with the help of a second mechanic.
Refitting ( Removing )
As the pressed seal (which cannot be separated) will inevitably be damaged during the removal of the windscreen, affecting the aesthetic and seal functions, the windscreen must always be replaced every time it is removed.
- New window preparation.
Wait for about 15 minutes before continuing with the next operation to allow the adhesion promoter (primer) thinner to evaporate.
1. Remove the adhesive tape from the edges of the bodywork.2. Carry out a test positioning of the glass centering it perfectly using the dedicated spacers on the new glass.- Remove the window glass.3. Using an air gun, apply a bead of sealant along the perimeter of the windscreen as evenly as possible.
Start the operation from the centre of the bottom and continue without breaks along the entire perimeter of the glass.
1. Position the windscreen in its seat immediately after applying the sealant and bed into position using locating pins.2. Position the belt (2a), as illustrated, and tension it so that even pressure is exerted on the entire windscreen to ensure that the matching between the glass (2b), sealant (2c) and windscreen housing (2d) is correct.
Do not move the vehicle for the time recommended by the sealant manufacturer.
