Removing ( Refitting )     1. Open the boot lid.2. Remove the window lower seal.
1. Disconnect heated rear windscreen electrical connections (1a,1b).

- Move the rearscreen side electrical connections so that they are not damaged during the cutting of the sealant.2. Apply a double layer of protective adhesive tape to the edges of the bodywork.
- The rearscreen sealant can be cut using a piano wire or vibrating knife; both methods are described below.- To cut using a piano wire, proceed as described below.    Op. 7040H42 REAR PILLAR TRIM (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT- R.R     Op. 7040H80 REAR PARCEL SHELF - R.R. 1. Cut a length of piano wire of about 50 cm, then use pliers to introduce one end (1a) of the wire through strip of sealant (1b) securing rearscreen (1c).2. Fasten one end (1a) of the wire to special retaining tool (2a) located inside the vehicle. Fasten one end (2b) of the wire to traction handle (2c) located outside the vehicle.3. The mechanic inside the vehicle should keep the end of tool (2a) on bead of sealant (3a) about 30 cm from the point where the wire passes through. The other mechanic, outside the vehicle, should pull handle (2c), following the surround of the rearscreen and then cut bead of sealant (3a). Repeat the operation in sections of about 30 cm until bead of sealant (3a) is completely cut. Take care when cutting over rearscreen side centring pins (3b).
When using piano wire, take care with the panel reinforcements located in the right and left side of the rearscreen housing. If these sections are difficult, use the vibrating cutter with an appropriate blade.
- To cut using a vibrating knife, proceed as described below.1. Use a vibrating knife (1a) with blade (1b) and cut the sealant strip along the rearscreen perimeter, working from inside the vehicle for upper and lower edges (1c) and from outside the vehicle for side edges (1d). Take care when cutting over rearscreen side centring pins (1e).2. After cutting round the entire sealant strip, apply suction pads to the rearscreen; then, with the assistance of a second mechanic, remove the rearscreen and rest it on a support stand.
Refitting ( Removing ) 1. Using suitable equipment, cut and level the strip of sealant in the rearscreen housing, leaving a thickness of between 0.25 and 1 mm, taking care not to scratch the paintwork. The thickness of the sealant remaining in the housing will act as a support for the new bonding.2. Thoroughly clean the rearscreen housing using an air jet and degrease fully using heptane. When bonding, 60 minutes after the bead of sealant has been cut and levelled, the surface of the actual sealant must be treated using the special activating product; it is then necessary to wait for 15 minutes before fitting the windscreen.

3. Clean and degrease the two seats for the anti-sink glass mounting blocks using heptane.4. Remove the side locating pin residues to release the holes on the vehicle.- If necessary, touch up the paintwork.
1. Check for the presence of the anti-sink adhesive window mounting blocks. During window refitting, check that they rest correctly on the rearscreen seat.
1. Using heptane, degrease the screen-printed perimeter of the new rearscreen involved in the bonding.2. Apply glass adhesion promoter (primer) (2b) to screen-printed perimeter using wick (2a) supplied in the kit.
Wait for about 15 minutes before continuing with the next operation to allow the adhesion promoter (primer) thinner to evaporate.
1. Remove the adhesive tape from the edges of the bodywork.2. Test the position of glass (2a), centring the rearscreen perfectly using pins (2b) on the new glass.3. Using an air gun, apply a strip of sealant along the perimeter of the rearscreen as evenly as possible.

Start the operation from the centre of the lower edge and continue without breaks around the entire perimeter of the glass.
1. With the help of another mechanic, position rearscreen glass (1a) in its seat immediately after applying the sealant, and bed into position using locating pins (1b).2. Position belt (2a) as illustrated and tension it so that even pressure is exerted on the entire rearscreen to ensure that the matching between glass (2b), sealant (2c) and rearscreen housing (2d) is correct.
- Before refitting the vehicle interior and exterior elements, check that there are no infiltration points by carrying out a water leakage test.- Raise the rear seat backrests and refit the rear parcel shelf.- Secure the rearscreen electrical connections.- If the piano wire system is used:    Op. 7040H80 REAR PARCEL SHELF - R.R.     Op. 7040H42 REAR PILLAR TRIM (ONE), LEFT OR RIGHT- R.R
Do not move the vehicle for the time recommended by the sealant manufacturer.
