323000354 - E3020 WINDSCREEN WASH/WIPE - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The steering column switch unit controls all the windscreen wiper functions, via a single signal, using a resistive partition that starts at pin 7 of H005 and arrives at pin 28 of connector A of Body Computer M001.Similarly, the steering column switch unit H005 (pin 5) controls the windscreen washer with an analogue signal that reaches pin 30 of connector A of M001.The reference earth reaches pin 10 of H005 from pin 9 of connector A of M001 via a dedicated line.On versions with Cruise Control, the windscreen wiper activation signal leaves pin 13 of H005, the screen washer pump activation signal leaves pin 8 of H005 and the reference earth is supplied at pin 16.Once the Body Computer M001 has acquired the commands from the steering column switch unit it sends the control signals for the windscreen washer pump, windscreen wiper fast and slow operation from pins 3, 29 and 40 of connector D.These signals reach pins 7, 4 and 3 respectively of windscreen wiper control unit M079.The windscreen wiper control unit M079 (pin 11) receives a power supply from the battery via the line protected by fuse F23 located in the engine compartment junction unit B001 (pin 32 of connector A).The control unit M079 (pin 14) is also supplied by the battery which is excluded during starting (INT/A) via relay T12 of the junction unit under the dashboard. This line is protected by fuse F43 of B002 (pin 10 of connector A).The windscreen wiper control unit M079 manages the windscreen wiper motor N015 from pins 12 and 13 for fast and slow operation respectively. The screen washer N022 electric pump motor receives a power supply from pin 8 of M079.Lastly, pin 9 of M070 is earthed. The Body Computer receives a power supply from the battery, via the line protected by fuse F1 located in the engine compartment junction unit B001. It also receives an ignition-controlled power supply (INT) from the ignition switch H001. The reference earth reaches pins 10 and 19 of connector A of M001.The rain sensor, located in the electrochromic mirror P065, receives an ignition-operated power supply (INT) at pin 6 via the line protected by fuse F49 in the junction unit under the dashboard B002 (pin 24 of connector C); pin 5 of P065 is earthed. Lastly, the rain sensor sends the signal via the A-BUS serial line from pin 4 of P065 to pin 10 of connector B of M001.    See E1060 A-BUS SERIAL LINEThe Body Computer M001 is connected via the CAN line to the instrument panel E050 to manage the "general failure" warning light if there are problems with the rain sensor.
