DESCRIPTION

In the case of poor visibility it is possible to activate the demisting of the rearscreen and the door mirrors (if present).This function is activated by pressing the button on the control panel in the centre of the dashboard. The warning light on the button comes on to show that the function has been activated.The heating coils of these components take up a large amount of power; the system therefore deactivates the function after about 20 minutes even if the control is left active.In addition the power supply for the heating resistances can be interrupted if the difference in power at the battery terminals goes below 11.5 V for more than 5 seconds. If this takes place and later on the voltage returns to above 12.5 V for a minimum period of 15 seconds, then the function is reactivated.The power supply is also interrupted if after the first ten minutes of operation the engine rpm falls below 960 rpm for more than 10 seconds. If this happens and the rpm subsequently exceeds 1056 rpm for at least 5 seconds, the function is reactivated.In any event the function is only active with the key in the ON position.For versions equipped with automatic air conditioning, the demisting function of the heated rear windscreen and external rearview mirrors is activated simultaneously with the activation of the MAX-DEF control, which also activates all the functions necessary to accelerate the demisting and defogging of the windows as well as of the rear windscreen.If the demisting function was activated by the special button in the central part of the dashboard, the operation of the air conditioning MAX-DEF button to deactivate the function is ignored.

The deactivation of the MAX-DEF control only causes the switching off of the heated rear windscreen if the command to switch it on came from the MAX-DEF button; if, on the other hand, the command was given via the heated rear windscreen button, it remains on.

The rearscreen and exterior rear view mirrors (if present) demisting circuit is operated and protected by a relay and two fuses respectively located in the junction unit under the dashboard.On versions with AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING, the control signal, on the other hand, reaches the Body Computer from the climate control system control unit via the B-CAN.

On versions with a manually operated air conditioner and heater, the defrosting can only be activated using the dedicated button.
