323001015 - E6020 AIR CONDITIONER - DESCRIPTION (Automatic air conditioning)

DESCRIPTION

The automatic climate control regulates the temperature, quantity of distribution of air in the passenger compartment. The temperature control is based on the "equivalent temperature": in other words the system works constantly to keep the passenger compartment comfort constant to compensate for any variations in the outside weather conditions. The following parameters and functions are controlled automatically: the temperature of the air at the vents, the distribution of the air at the vents, the speed of the fan (continuous variation of the air flow), the engagement of the compressor for cooling/dehumidifying the air and the recirculation of the air.All these functions can be modified manually, in other words one or more functions can be selected at will and the parameters modified. In this way, however, the automatic control of the functions modified manually where the system will only intervene for safety reasons is deactivated (e.g. risk of misting).Manual selections always take priority over the automatic function and are memorized until the user restores the automatic function by pressing the AUTO button except in cases where the system intervenes for special safety reasons. There is also a MAX-DEF rapid defrosting function, which consists of a collection of measures which make it possible to demist both the windscreen and the rearscreen quickly. The control unit acquires information on the temperature and climate conditions both inside and outside the vehicle by means of special sensors:- outside temperature sensor, located on the passenger door mirror: the sensor value is acquired by the Body Computer and is then sent, via the CAN, to the climate control system control unit as well as to the instrument panel and to other consumers;- solar sensor, which measures the sun rays on the windscreen;- two treated air sensors: measures the temperature at the vent outlet and send this information to the control unit.On the basis of the calculations made, the electronic control unit sets the passenger compartment air entry speed by means of an electronic regulator which controls the fan, the temperature of the actual air by means of a mixture actuator and, lastly, the interior/exterior air recirculation function through another actuator. If the conditions require, the control unit also switches on the air cooling and dehumidification circuit, activating the air conditioning compressor    See E6021 COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENT

When the outside temperature measured is less than 3 °C the message "Danger, Ice" is shown on the instrument panel display with the snow symbol; this situation is also signalled by a buzzer.
