FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The control unit for the Air Bag system M060 receives a supply controlled by the ignition (INT) at pin 12 of connector A from the line protected by fuse F50 of the junction unit under the dashboard B002.Pin 16 connector A is connected to the specific earth C050A.The early crash sensor K039 detects slight impacts and notfies the control unit M060. Sensor K039 is connected to pins 3 (earth) and 4 (signal) of connector A of M060.If a slight frontal impact is detected, the control unit M060 sends signals for the intervention of the front modules in the first stage:- to the driver''s air bag Q009 (connector A), via the clock spring contact on the steering wheel D047 (pins 11 and 12), from pins 21 (+) and 22 (-) of connector A;- to the passenger side Air Bag Q011 (connector A), from pins 23 (-) and 24 (+) of connector A;- to the front driver''s pretensioners Q020, from pins 9 (-) and 10 (+) of connector B of M060 and passenger side Q021, from pins 11 (+) and 12 (-) of the same connector. If a more serious frontal impact is detected, the control unit M060 sends signals for the intervention of the front modules in the second stage:- to the driver''s air bag Q009 (connector B), via the clock spring contact on the steering wheel D047 (pins 9 and 10), from pins 17 (+) and 18 (-) of connector A;- to the passenger side Air Bag Q011 (connector B), from pins 19 (-) and 20 (+) of connector A.The side impact detection sensors K066 (driver''s side) and K067 (passenger side) are connected respectively to pins 1 (reference earth) and 2 (signal) and to pins 3 (reference earth) and 4 (signal) of connector B of control unit M060.When, on the basis of the control logic, a side impact of a certain severity is detected, the control unit M060 sends signals for the intervention of the modules:- to the driver side Window Bag Q040, from pins 17 (+) and 18 (-) of connector B;- to the passenger side Window Bag Q041, from pins 19 (-) and 20 (+) of connector B;- to the driver''s Side Bag Q030 (connector A), from pins 21 (+) and 22 (-) of connector B;- to the passenger Side Bag Q031 (connector A), from pins 23 (-) and 24 (+) of connector B.The structure of the seats which house the Side Bags Q030 and Q031 (connectors B) is connected to earth C050B.The switches on the driver''s seat belt I046 and the passenger side I047 are conntected to the control unit M060 to pins 5-6 and 13-14 of connector B respectively. The passenger presence sensor K065 located on the seat is connected to the control unit at pins 8 (reference earth) and 7 (signal) of connector B of M060.The control unit M060 (pins 1 and 2 of connector A) is connected, via the CAN line, to the Body Computer M001 (pins 5 and 6 of connector A) and to the instrument panel E050 (pins 5 and 6).When the system autodiagnostic function detects a fault or an impact is recorded, the control unit M060 sends a signal, via the CAN, for the Air Bag fault warning light located in the instrument panel E050.Similarly, it lights up the passenger Air Bag disabled warning light (using the setup menu in the display for E050 via the buttons in the left control panel H091) and the seat belt not fastened warning light (S.B.R. system) and the buzzer.
