323001820 - N079 PARKING DEVICE NOT WORKING

The ultrasound distance measurement parking system provides the driver with information concerning distance when approaching obstacles behind the vehicle. The information concerning the presence and distance of the obstacle is transmitted to the driver by means of acoustic signals whose frequency depends on the distance of the obstacle. The distance measurement only takes place when the system is activated, whilst the control unit micro-controller is operational when the system is deactivated.
the system is activated with the key ON and reverse engaged. The Parking Sensor Node receives a reversing signal from the Body Computer Node via the CAN line.
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check the following data in CAN mode:- no "control unit inactive" signal- no "faulty control units" signal- no "faulty CAN line" signalCheck for faults in the parking sensor nodeMove on to Step 2.1.Control unit not activated.2.Control unit faulty.3.Control unit with CAN line error.1.Move on to Step 2.2.Continue as instructed by the diagnostic equipment.3.Repair any faults on the CAN line.
2CONTROL UNIT POWER SUPPLY CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the parking sensor node power supply voltage is correct    See T CHECK ON POWER SUPPLY TO THE PARKING SENSOR CONTROL UNITMove on to Step 3.1.Fuse blown.2.Power supply not efficient.3.Earth not efficient.1.Eliminate any short circuits and then replace fuse F51 in the dashboard junction unit.2.Restore correct power supply.3.Restore earth connection.    See E3090 PARKING SENSOR
