323000080 - E2012 MAIN BEAM HEADLIGHTS - DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The vehicle is equipped with two high beams in the front headlights. The high beams are activated by the steering wheel stalk unit:- when the low beams are on, by pushing the lever toward the steering wheel (2nd unstable position);- in flashing mode, by pulling the lever towards the steering wheel (1st unstable position), independently of the position of the control wheel. To switch the main beam headlamps off, pull the lever again towards the steering wheel (the dipped headlamps come on again). The switching on of the main beam headlights is managed by the Body Computer. This operation is only possible if the dipped beam headlights are on; if they are switched off whilst the full beam headlights are on constantly (2nd unstable position), the latter are also switched off.A special relay in the engine compartment junction unit controls the activation of the main beams via two lines protected by specific fuses. The main beam activation relay is controlled by the Body Computer. Relay energizing takes place via a specific steering wheel interface negative analogue control signal.Activation/deactivation information is sent via the CAN: in this way, the main beam warning light (blue in colour) is activated in the instrument panel. The main beam headlights can be activated with the key in the ON position. If the key is moved to the OFF position or removed, the main beam headlights are deactivated.
