323000393 - E3080 HEADLIGHT ALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENT - DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION

The adjustment of the orientation of the headlamp light beam according to the load is carried out by means of a regulating device (located inside the main headlamps), which tilts them appropriately, lowering the light beam if the vehicle is heavily laden and raising it if the load lessens. Two buttons in the left control panel allow the headlamp alignment to be adjusted, allowing the vertical orientation to be changed between 4 predefined positions (from 0 to 3):- position 0: one or two people on the front seats (vehicle in driving order);- position 1: five persons;- position 2: five people with a load in the luggage compartment;- position 3: driver with maximum permitted load all stowed in the luggage compartment (full load); The dedicated relay in the junction unit under the dashboard that controls the activation of the dipped beams also supplies the adjustment motors built into the main headlights. The circuit is protected by two dedicated fuses also located in the junction unit under the dashboard. The headlamp alignment correction system can only be activated with the ignition key in the ON position and the dipped beam headlamps switched on.If one or both of these conditions is not present the light beam cannot be adjusted because the supply for the adjustment devices is provided by the same relay that supplies the dipped headlamps. The level selected is memorized and, when the vehicle is started up again later on and the dipped headlights are activated, the level used is the last one set.The instrument panel display shows the position in relation to the adjustment set.
