323001947 - 5040AB REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT CHECK

Do not check the air conditioning system in the immediate vicinity of the walls (distance of approximately 2 m) in order to ensure sufficient circulation of air around the condenser.
STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDREMEDIAL ACTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1Connect the air conditioning system repressurizing station.Start the engine and keep it idling. Set the required passenger compartment temperature to COLD (turn anticlockwise to stop).Set the 4th fan speed. Turn on the air conditioning (LED on snowflake symbol on).Take the reading from the high pressure gauge and ensure it is greater than 13 bars.Move on to Step 4.
2Check that the engine cooling fan is on. Move on to Step 4.Move on to Step 3.
3Turn the ignition key to MAR.With the engine off, perform active diagnosis on the engine cooling fan and ensure it is successful.Restore the electrical connections between the fan and the engine management control unit.    See E5020 ENGINE COOLING replace the engine cooling fan if necessary.    Op. 1088E10 RADIATOR COOLING FAN - R + R
Before draining the air conditioning system, check the coolant circuit to ensure there are no leaks.    Op. 0010T84 COOLANT FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM - DEHYDRATE AND REPRESSURIZE Check the connection to the expansion valve in particular.
STEPCHECK TO BE PERFORMEDREMEDIAL ACTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
4Turn the ignition key OFF. Drain, empty and charge the air conditioning system with the specified amount of coolant.    Op. 0010T84 COOLANT FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM - DEHYDRATE AND REPRESSURIZE Let the engine run for 15 minutes with the bonnet closed. Switch on the air conditioning (LED on snowflake symbol on).Set the required passenger compartment temperature to COLD (turn anticlockwise to stop).Adjust the air distribution to passenger head ventilation.Make sure that the recirculation is switched off. Increase the engine speed to 1500 rpm for 5 minutes.Take the reading from the high pressure gauge and ensure it is within the range between 9 and 16 bars.Move on to Step 6.
5Take the reading from the low pressure gauge and ensure it is outside the range 1.7 to 2.2 bar. The test is over.Move on to Step 6.
6Take the readings from the high and low pressure gauges and ensure the pressure difference is at least 5 bar.Replace the compressor.    Op. 5040A20 AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR - R+R - INCLUDES FLUID LEVEL CHECK AND TOP UP IF NECESSARY
7Check that the coolant circuit is not dirty or blocked with ice.Restore the coolant circuit.
8Replace the expansion valve.    Op. 5040B30 EXPANSION VALVE (ORIFICE TUBE) - R+R
