323001440 - 1040A14 FUEL TANK - R + R FOR REPLACEMENT

Removing ( Refitting ) - Position the vehicle on a lift.- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.- Fold the rear seat cushion over.1. Use tool to release and remove the access cover to the fuel pump assembly.

Position the tool and apply leverage as indicated in the lever to prevent the cover tab deforming.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection (1a) and disconnect the rapid connectors for the fuel supply and return pipes (1b).

- Raise the vehicle.    Op. 1076A51 HEAT SHIELD FOR EXHAUST PIPE ON FUEL TANK - R.R 1. Loosen the band and disconnect the reflux pipe from the tank.2. Open the band and disconnect the fuel filler pipe from the tank.3. Disconnect the fuel vapour pipe rapid connectors and release them from the fastenings on the tank.

Using suitable plugs, close the connectors for the fuel filler and reflux pipe on the tank.

1. Release the handbrake cables from the retainers on the fuel tank.2. Position a hydraulic jack with a suitable support under the fuel tank.3. Undo the bolts (3a) and remove the fuel tank (3b). - Remove the submerged pump assembly as described in the procedure:    Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY COMPLETE WITH LEVEL GAUGE CONTROL - R + R     Op. 1080E13 FLOAT VALVE (ONE) (PREVENTING FUEL EMERGING FROM TANK) - R+R- Proceed with transferring the fuel using suitable equipment. Refitting ( Removing )     Op. 1080E13 FLOAT VALVE (ONE) (PREVENTING FUEL EMERGING FROM TANK) - R+R- Fit the submerged pump assembly as described in the procedure:    Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY COMPLETE WITH LEVEL GAUGE CONTROL - R + R - Fit the fuel tank and tighten the bolts to the recommended torque.

- Remove the hydraulic jack and the support positioned underneath the fuel tank.- Secure the handbrake cables to the retainers on the fuel tank.- Connect the fuel filler pipe to the tank and close the band.- Connect the reflux pipe to the reservoir and tighten the band.- Connect the fuel vapour pipe rapid connectors and secure them to the fastenings on the tank.    Op. 1076A51 HEAT SHIELD FOR EXHAUST PIPE ON FUEL TANK - R.R- Lower the vehicle.- Connect the electrical connection for the fuel pump.

- Connect the fuel delivery and return pipe quick couplings.- Place the access cover to the fuel pump assembly back in its housing.- Place the rear seat cushion back in position.- Connect the negative battery terminal (-).- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
