This braking system consits of two, independent, crossover, hydraulic circuits (that involve one front wheel and one rear wheel, for example, the right front wheel and the left rear wheel) to ensure braking on both sides of the vehicle and maintain stability if there is a problem with the braking circuit for one of the wheels. All versions are fitted with front and rear self-ventilated brake discs. All vehicles are equipped with A.B.S. anti-lock brakes with four active sensors and four separate channels, with an E.B.D. function (electronic brake force distribution for the front and rear wheels) (See subassembly ) 3340 ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (A.B.S.)The basic feature of the active sensors consists of the fact that the signal is processed directly by the sensor instead of being sent to the control unit, with the immediate intervention of the system in this way. This vehicle is equipped with further electronic control systems, such as:
ASR, acceleration drive wheels slip limitation
ESP, vehicle dyniamic stability control.
To ensure a prompt response to the action of the brake pedal, all versions have a power unit with a LUCAS 10" brake servo. The pedal assembly consists of a mounting, separated from the power unit, with the clutch and accelerator pedals in plastic whilst the brake pedal remains made from steel.
