841003294 - E2011 DIPPED BEAMS OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION

Operational Description

A negative low beam activation signal is received from exterior lighting control unit H092 pin 5, connector A of Body Computer M001 pin 4 connector E when the control is set to low beam.Once an activation signal has been received, Body Computer M001 controls the low beam operating strategy.The low beams on warning light in instrument E050 is activated simultanously.The "Follow me home" can be set from infotelematic control unit M065.This signal is sent on B-Can A and B-Can B lines to pin 1 and 3 of connector D.The instrument panel receives a supply controlled by the ignition and a direct supply. These lines are protected by fuses F37 and F53 dof underfacia control unit B002. Pins 8 and 9 of connector E of the Body Computer are earthed .The low beams may be activated automatically by switching the exterior lighting wheel H092 to "AUTO".Once an exterior lighting command is received from rain and dusk sensor K125, Body Computer M001 governs low beam activation and deactivation with the AUTO control on.If the rain sensor turns off the side lights and low beams ( with the exterior lighting control unit set to AUTO), the Body Computer M001 implements the following bulb deactivation strategy:

  • Low beam deactivation: when a rain and dusk sensor command is received via A-BUS;
  • Side light deactivation: 10 seconds after low beam deactivation
This signal also reaches the stalk switch at pin 4 of connector C from pin 9 of connector A of exterior lighting control unit H092 to turn on the low beams.This controls the power supply to the low beams by sending an earth signal to control unit B002 via pin 8 of connector E. The control unit then excites relay R1.The relay supplies the low beams of headlamps R010 (left) and F011 (right). Both circuits are protected by a fuse of control unit B002: F13 protects the left headalmp and F12 protects the right.The Matrix display shows activation and duration oft he Follow me home function. Signals are sent via B-CAN lines from body computer M001 and faults in rain and durk sensor K125 are indicated.The control unit is supplied by a line protected by fuse F39 inside underfacia control unit B002.In this way, body computer M001 receives two negative signals from pins 4 ("POS") and 11 ("STAZ") connector A of exterior lighting control unit H092.Rain and dusk sensor K125 in ceiling control unit M062 sends information to Body Computer M001 via serial line A-BUS from pin 4 connector B. Signals are sent at 1 s intervals.Infotelematic control unit M065 dowloads the light level at pin 18 connector A from exterior lighting control unit H092, and sends it via the B-CAN network to pins 1 and 3 connector D to body computer M001. This relays it to rain and dusk sensor K125 via serial line A-BUS.Sensor sensitivity may be adjusted using the rheostat in exterior lighting control unit H092.This receives ignition-operated power supply from Body Computer M001 protected by fuse F51 inside underfacia junction unit B002.Control panel E050 shows dusk sensor fults on the matrix display.
