841004653 - E3090 PARKING SENSORS DESCRIPTION

Description

This is a device that allows easy manoeuvring whilst parking: it signals to the driver that an obstacle, which may be outside of the range of vision, is being approached. The device is managed by a special control unit which acquires signals from the sensors located inside the rear bumper and the front bumper.Approaching an obstacle is signalled by means of two special buzzers, one housed in the dashboard area and one in the area of the rear parcel shelf; depending on where the obstacle is (at the front or the back), the control unit activates one of the two buzzers. At each request for an acoustic warning for the parking sensor control unit, the info telematic control unit activates the mute function for the sound source that may be in operation (e.g. the radio). In addition to managing the sensor disabling button status LED and the possible presence of a trailer, the parking sensor control unit transmit the correct operation status of the sensors, via the CAN, to the instrument panel which indicates any failure through a message on its display. The reading does not refer to an individual sensor but rather to the overall function system. The device is only activated in the key-on condition (INT).The buzzer gives off an intermittent sound which varies depending on the distance from the obstacle until it becomes a continuous sound if the obstacle is very close to the vehicle.
