841004707 - E3510 RADIO DESCRIPTION

Description

The vehicle is equipped with a radio incorporated in the integrated radio-telephone-navigation system. The system includes the following components:

  • radio;
  • amplifier (there are two different trim levels):
  • front speakers (separate woofers and tweeters) located in the doors;
  • rear speakers (separate woofers and tweeters) located in the doors;
  • speaker in the rear parcel shelf;
  • radio supply leads;
  • cables connecting the radio with the speakers;
  • AM/FM aerial, coaxial cables and supply lead for the aerial amplifier;
The system can be operated in different ways: in addition to the normal controls located on the actual radio, there are also controls on the steering wheel as well as the voice repetition of the radio controls through a microphone installed in the roof control unit (at the moment only the radio phone controls are enabled by this last function).The controls on the steering wheel for the radio function have the following configuration:

  • Mode / Func. control: this allows the selection of the various info-telematic control unit applications (Main, Audio, Trip, Set up, Telephone, Navigation, Service);
  • Source control: selection of the sound source (radio, tape, cd changer);
  • Scan + / - control: changing the radio station or audio track;
  • volume up / down: management of the speaker output volume
It is also possible to enable the automatic decreasing or increasing of the radio volume depending on the speed of the vehicle. The volume of the radio is also decreased if there is an auditory warning signalling the proximity of an obstacle.The radio is equipped to operate a CD CHANGER module.The system receives the signal that the ignition is switched on via the CAN and operates according to the following logic:

  • if the ignition is switched on and the radio was on previously, the radio is excluded during starting if the battery voltage is below 10V
  • after the key off, the radio remains on for a further 20 minutes after which it switches off automatically. To switch it back on again, press the radio ON button.
  • Using the control panel on the info-telematic control unit and the menù the user can also select a second mode for enabling the radio in tune with the key on and key off states, in other words the radio comes on when the ignition is switched on and goes off when the ignition is switched off. (alternative operating logic to the previous one).
  • The radio can also be switched on if the ignition is switched off using its own On button.
  • The switching off should be delayed in the case of a telephone conversation or emergency call: in this case the radio will be automatically deactivated when the call is ended. (if the telephone call lasts longer than 20 minutes).
The radio, incorporated in the info-telematic control unit, is a node in the CAN through which information is exchanged with the Body Computer and the other electronic units present on the vehicle.
