Description
The steering lock locking strategy is managed by the Body Computer.The Body Computer sends a request to the steering lock control unit via the CAN network when the following conditions are met simultaneously:
clutch pedal released;
car at a standstill;
key-off (STOP);
CID not in garage position.
In any case, locking of the door ( < R1 > ) brings about locking of the steering lock (with the exception of the autoclose function, from from internal switch and from mechanical insert). This command is sent a certain time (about 3 seconds) after the door lock command to prevent involuntary locking. See E3040 CENTRAL LOCKINGUnder normal service conditions, the steering lock release strategy is also handle by the Body Computer.Following clutch pedal depression (when the clutch signal is sent via the CAN network to the steering lock control unit), the Body Computer requests a check to detect the presence of a CID module inside the car. If a module is present inside the passenger compartment or in garage position, the Body Computer makes an unlocking request.If the +15 signal is active, the procedure is not activated: clutch depression is therefore detected but does not generate any CID recognition request or activate the steering unlocking procedure.If an open/close transition is detected for one of the doors under key-on conditions, CID recognition is requested to establish whether a module is present in the passenger compartment. If not found, the instrument panel display shows a message that alerts the driver that once the +15 supply is removed it will no longer be possible to start/restrat the vehicle.
