The vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission which regulates and controls the automatic engagement of the gears. An electronic control unit manages a complex operating logic that allows the use of the gearbox in both sequential conditions, in which the driver manages the engagement of the gears using the lever and, in automatic mode, where the management of the gear changes is delegated to the electronic system. In the first case, the driver can select the gear they prefer, giving advantages in terms of sporty driving, simply by moving the gear lever from "D" (automatic gearbox driving position) and operating the "MAN+" or "MAN-" button. The control of the clutch is activated automatically. In the second case, the driver can select the driving mode from those available, in other words: Economy, Regular and Sports. The automatic transmission control unit can move automatically to different programmes in relation to specific conditions, such as: climbing a hill or driving downhill or round a bend, unmade roads, etc. and therefore, based on fundamental parameters such as the speed of the vehicle, the engine rpm and pressing the brake pedal. The special signals transmitted via the CAN from the automatic transmission control unit are used by the instrument panel to display both the faulty state of the device and the automatic transmission fluid overheating whilst the milometer signals the gear when it is selected. There is also a buzzer if the gearbox is not in the safety "P" (Parking) position or if it is in the reverse position "R" withe the driver''s door open. The control unit has its own diagnostic signal used for the continuous monitoring of the entire device See E8010 DIAGNOSTIC MULTIPLE CONNECTORThe system is also controlled by a relay located in the engine compartment junction unit. The supply lines for the control units and the various system components are protected by special fuses in the junction unit under the dashboard.
