Description

The vehicle brake lights are located at the rear in the side light clusters and in the special centre third brake light. They are operated each time the brake pedal is pressed via the special switch on the actual pedal.
the switch fitted on the pedals consists of two contacts which supply two signals: the first N.A. type recognizes the position of the brake pedal if it is different from the rest position; the second N.C. type: recognizes the position of the brake pedal in the rest position.
The switching on of the brake lights is managed by the body computer. The N.A. switch information is sent via the CAN to the engine management control unit; the latter transmits it via the CAN to the braking control unit and the adaptive cruise control unit.    See E5060 CRUISE CONTROL    See E5061 ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL    See E7021 ASR / TCSThe Body Computer carries out the check function for the brake light bulbs and the state of the protective fuse and any failure state is transmitted to the instrument panel via the CAN. In such a case the information is shown on the panel display. The function is activated by the above mentioned contact through enablement signals with the key on (INT).
