If the Passive Entry / Keyless go option is fitted, the vehicle is equipped with an electronic control unit for locking and releasing the steering (See Wiring Diagram E7068 Electrical steering lock). Starting is inhibited if the steering is locked. To release it, press the brake pedal.Once pressed, the electrical steering lock control unit sends a negative signal from pin 4 to the sensor unit on the gearbox L050. This signal is only retransmitted (from pin 10) if the gear lever is in a safe position (N or P). If this condition is satisfied, the negative signal reaches the terminal of R20 relay coil housed inside the engine compartment junction unit B001. The positive signal to energize the coil arrives directly from the ignition switch H001 - 50 - (only if the steering has been released as described previously).Once the coil for relay R20 is energized, the contact closes and the starter motor winding A020 is supplied directly by the battery via the line protected by fuse F23 housed inside the engine compartment junction unit B001. In addition, pin 30 of the starter motor A020 is divided into two distinct connectors: connector A receives a power supply directly from battery A001.The direct current generated by alternator A010 is sent from pin B+ to battery A001, through connector B of starter motor A020. If the alternator will not turn and thus charge the battery, an earth signal is sent from pin D+ to Body Computer M001 (pin 19 connector A). This is then connected via the CAN network to instrument panel E050, which displays an alternator fault message on the instrument panel display. The car is also equipped with a battery disconnection switch inside the maxifuse junction unit on battery B099.If there is an accident, the vehicle cuts off the supply to the fuel pump through the inertia switch I050 (see wiring diagram E1010 Fuel system) which, once open, ensures that an earth signal reaches the luggage compartment junction unit M063 (pin 33 connector F). The control unit then forwards this negative signal to pin 34 of connector F leading to the coil of the above battery disconnector. The contact is thus opened to prevent distribution of a +30 supply from the battery to all electric components in the car.The electronic steering lock control unit M089 is supplied directly by the battery at pin 3, via the line protected by fuse F63 of the luggage compartment junction unit B045. If Passive Entry with Keyless go is fitted, the steering is locked electronically by means of the dedicated control unit and is only released by using the clutch pedal, otherwise the relay R20 housed inside the engine compartment junction unit B001 inhibits starting.
