841007763 - E5060 CRUISE CONTROL DESCRIPTION (Automatic Transmission )
Description
The Cruise Control function (constant speed governor) allows the driver to drive the car at a constant speed without touching the accelerator pedal.The function is managed by the engine control unit. This receives commands from a Cruise Control lever on the left of the steering wheel beneath the stalk switch unit. It operates:
on a throttle body operated by an electric motor (in drive by wire systems for petrol engines) or:
on the diesel feed (in drive by wire systems for diesel engines).
The function is engaged by turning the wheel (ON).When a wheel is set ( SET + , SET - ), the setting is saved and may be called up at any time ( RCL ).The function deactivates automatically:
by pressing the brake pedal;
by pressing the clutch pedal;
by turning the wheel to OFF;
by turning off the engine
In such cases, the last speed achieved is stored and can be recalled by pressing the RCL button.Faults in the Cruise Control system are indicated on the instrument panel display by means of a message.
